Flatpack Film Festival 2009

This audio slideshow looks back at the Flatpack Film Festival 3′s opening night “Curzonora” in March 2009 – and celebrates cinematic pioneer Waller Jeffs. At the turn of last century Jeffs staged early film screenings at Curzon Hall in Birmingham, accompanied by live music, sound-effects – and even performing animals!

Now, over a hundred years later, the Flatpack team paid tribute to his innovation by screening some of the films that would have been shown in these early days of cinema at the Birmingham Town Hall – while a live soundtrack was supplied by the fifteen-piece band “The Destroyers“. Paul Murphy presented the event and provided narration.
