About

The transitory nature of radio used to be one of its strengths. The DJ’s playlist, their links between songs, breaking news stories, on-air fluffs and documentaries were “one-off” moments in time. Listeners had to stop what they were doing and stay tuned if they really wanted to hear something. This gave radio a live, exciting flavour (something automated programming has helped neuter).

Although the advent of “on-demand” and streaming content means it’s now relatively easy to track down past broadcasts, there are still thousands of hours of content vanishing every day. It seems a shame that so much audio simply evaporates into the ether, although it’s nice to think radio signals continue to beam out into space, awaiting intergalactic reception on alien radios.

In the interest of making available old material, this website is an audio repository or sorts. An archive of the various documentaries, web content and features I’ve produced over the years – along with a few other radio related clips that caught my ear.

The content is mostly streamed out of consideration to copyright, and as the audio has been previously broadcast on terrestrial radio, artist royalties have been accounted for.

By linking to sites such as Youtube, Vimeo and Soundcloud, this site aims to pull together a cross section of content and provides a forum to discuss the production processes and equipment used in their creation.
